Dr. Abdulrazzaq Arabiyat, the Director-General of the Tourism Board, stated that the board will significantly incorporate artificial intelligence into its 2024 strategy, utilizing available technology in its marketing plans.
According to a statement from the board on Wednesday, Arabiyat emphasized that leveraging artificial intelligence technologies contributes to creating a more interactive and targeted marketing approach to attract tourists and effectively promote tourist areas. This, in turn, increases foreign currency inflow, generates new job opportunities for the youth, and aids in achieving the desired economic growth.
He explained that artificial intelligence can now analyze tourist data, booking patterns, travel preferences, and visitor demographics to make predictions about future tourism trends in Jordan. Integrating artificial intelligence into the board’s strategy aligns with qualitative marketing plans, particularly given global changes and the evolution of artificial intelligence.
Arabiyat pointed out that the world is notably heading towards harnessing artificial intelligence. The board, through its relevant departments in electronic marketing, has been among the pioneers in the Middle East in employing artificial intelligence. A clear action plan has been drawn to integrate artificial intelligence into the board’s operations, involving several aspects such as analyzing and correcting pathways through tourist data analysis.
Moreover, he highlighted the increase in both quantitative and qualitative analysis to serve the goal of attracting more tourists to the kingdom. The intelligent promotion axis through electronic marketing campaigns contributes to enhancing the positive results of the board’s marketing campaigns.
Arabiyat emphasized that content creation is one of the key areas the board is activating through the use of AI-driven chatbots on social media platforms or the board’s official sites. This provides timely assistance to potential visitors by answering inquiries, providing information about various tourist sites, and aiding in trip planning, along with offering immediate language translation services.
The board intends to train its employees in artificial intelligence to enhance tourism-related activities. Additionally, the expanded use of artificial intelligence in tourism involves analyzing images and videos of various tourist regions in Jordan, identifying key landmarks, and automatically creating tags and descriptions. This facilitates the easy discovery of required information about regions while allowing the integration of artificial intelligence and augmented reality to create new experiences for potential tourists.
