Ryanair and Wizz Air to Launch Direct Flights to Jordan in April

In a significant boost to Jordan’s tourism and connectivity, the Jordan Tourism Promotion Board has signed agreements with low-cost carriers Ryanair and Wizz Air to introduce direct flights to the kingdom starting this April. This strategic move aims to strengthen Jordan’s position on the global tourism map while enhancing air connectivity between Europe and Jordan.

Expanding Flight Networks

Under the new agreements, Ryanair will operate 27 weekly flights on 14 direct routes connecting Amman with key European cities. Travelers will soon have direct access to cities such as Milan, Paris, Madrid, Rome, Vienna, Budapest, Bologna, Brussels, Bucharest, Marseille, Poznan, Pisa, Paphos, and Mamnjan. The initiative is expected to attract around 125,000 passengers during the summer season, which spans from April to October.

Wizz Air, on the other hand, has further strengthened its presence in the Jordanian market. The carrier will offer six direct routes to Amman from London, Abu Dhabi, Budapest, Rome, Milan, and Vienna. In addition, Wizz Air is launching three direct routes to Aqaba from Warsaw, Bucharest, and Katowice, with the potential to add two more routes to Aqaba later this year. The airline anticipates serving approximately 145,000 passengers annually.

Boosting Tourism and the National Economy

These new air services are a vital component of Jordan’s broader strategy to promote tourism and stimulate economic growth. By improving direct flight connections, Jordan is set to attract more European visitors, thereby increasing hotel occupancy rates and benefiting a range of service sectors including transportation, restaurants, and tourism facilities.

Dr. Abdul-Razzaq Arabiyat, Director General of the Jordan Tourism Promotion Board, emphasized that the new routes are not merely about enhancing air travel. “We are embarking on a strategic project that reinforces Jordan as a regional hub for tourism and travel,” he stated. The agreements underscore Jordan’s commitment to expanding its international connectivity and delivering a comprehensive and distinctive travel experience.

Looking Ahead

As direct flights begin in April, Jordan is poised to welcome a significant influx of tourists eager to explore its rich historical heritage, vibrant culture, and unique natural landscapes. With enhanced air links, the country is ready to continue its upward trajectory as a top global tourist destination.
